Definitions
10a. In this chapter-
“Accreditation of an institution”- accreditation of an institution for the purposes of residency training
“Accreditation committee” - The Council’s committee for accreditation and monitoring.
“Investigation committees”- Sub-committees of the accreditation committee, that investigate the existence of conditions for accreditation in an institution requesting accreditation to provide residency training.
“Conditions for accreditation”- Conditions established by the Council, in writing, that must be present in an institution requesting accreditation for residency training, according to the type of residency.
Submission of a request
10b. (a) The director of an institution requesting accreditation shall submit a request to the accreditation committee, and shall attach any necessary documentation or confirmations, according to the conditions for accreditation.
(b) A copy of the request shall be forwarded to the Director.
(c) If the Council finds, prima facie, that the institution meets the conditions of accreditation, it shall appoint an investigation committee, within 60 days of the submission of the request.
Accreditation of an institution
10c. (a) If the accreditation committee reaches the conclusion, based on the report of the investigation committee, that the requesting institution meets the conditions for accreditation, it shall submit its recommendation, along with the recommendation of the chairman of the Council, to the Director, within 30 days of the conclusion of the investigation of the institution.
(b) The Director may, on the basis of the Council’s recommendation, give full or limited accreditation, conditional and for a trial period, all or some of the above.
(c) If the institution is accredited, the Director shall grant it a certificate of an institution accredited for residency training, and shall detail the limitations and conditions, if any.
Removal or limitation of accreditation
10d. (a) If any of the conditions for accreditation shall cease to exist at a given institution, the director of the accredited institution must report the same, immediately, to the accreditation committee and to the Director.
(b) The Director may, at the Council’s recommendation, revoke an institution’s accreditation, or limit it in time or with conditions.
Period of accreditation
10e. (a) Accreditation of an institution shall be for a period of not more than 5 years from the time it was granted, but such accreditation may be renewed if a request for same is made, according to the procedure established in paragraph 10b, no later than 6 months before the conclusion of the period of accreditation.
(b) The terms of this chapter shall apply to the investigation of a request for the renewal of accreditation.
