ד"ר בלומנטל רות

1905 - 1983
ד"ר רות בלומנטל לבית ארליך נולדה בברלין. למדה רפואה באוניברסיטת Freiburg. היא סיימה את לימודי הרפואה באוניבסיטת ברלין בשנת 1929, אך בטרם סיימה את השלמותה ברפואת עיניים, עלתה ארצה בשנת 1933 במסגרת תנועת "בלאו ווייס" עם בעלה, ד"ר הנס צבי בלומנטל, אף הוא רופא עיניים.

עם עלייתם ארצה של הזוג בלומנטל, השתקעו בעיר טבריה, שם נזקקו לרופא עיניים. את התפקיד מילא בעלה הנס, ורות עבדה שנה וחצי באיילת השחר בהשגחה על כוורות דבורים. לאחר מכן חברה לבעלה ועבדה כרופאת עיניים בטבריה, גם במסגרת סניף הדסה בעיר.

במלחמת השחרור טיפלו ד"ר רות והנס בלומנטל בפצועי המלחמה מאזור הצפון, כולל עמק הירדן ועין גב.

בין השאר היו הזוג בלומנטל פעילי ציבור בעיר טבריה.

בשנת 1958 עברו רות והנס בלומנטל לגור בכרמל שבחיפה, שם המשיכה רות בעבודתה כרופאת עיניים פרטית והן במסגרת קופ"ח כללית ומכבי.

לרות והנס בן יחיד שנולד ב 1935 בטבריה, פרופ' מיכאל בלומנטל, רופא עיניים בעל שם עולמי, שהלך לעולמו בשנת 2007.

רות בלומנטל נפטרה בשנת 1983.
