אין אינדיקציה לבצע טיפול לייזר מניעתי במצבים בהם מזוהים בבדיקת הרשתית לטיס או חורים אטרופיים, בהעדר סימפטומים
 

לטיס וחורים אטרופיים הם מצבים שנמצאים לעתים קרובות בעיניים עם הפרדות רשתית. אינטואיטיבית ניתן לצפות שטיםטל מונע באיזורים אלו יקטין את הסיכון להפרדות רשתית. עם זאת, המידע הקיים אינו מדגים כל ערך לטיפולים אלא אף מדגים תופעות לוואי וסיכונים של הטיפול .סיבה אפשרית אחת להעדר תועלת מן הטיפול היא הווצרות קרעים מחוץ לאיזורי הפתולוגיה הנראית לעין.
