“In this month´s bioethics case, the ethical dilemma faced by the gynecologist stems from the conflict between respecting the mother's autonomy and prioritizing the well-being of the fetus. The patient autonomy is crucial for trust in medical care, however, it's not an absolute principle. One of its exceptions is when respecting autonomy could harm others, such as the fetus in this case”.
