Section 9

The “head” of the National Transplant Center - the director general of the Center - is the most dominant entity in the functioning of the Center. The director general is the individual that works at the center on a daily basis, manages its ongoing operation and functioning and implements policy set by the steering committee. At the same time, the Director General operates in line with the directives of the steering committee and is subordinate to it, similar to the activities of a company CEO that operates at the directive of and under the supervision of the board of directors.

Accordingly, we maintain that the appointment of both of these position-holders should be comparable and that they should be appointed by the Minister of Health or the Director General of the Ministry of Health. We maintain that it is important that the Director General of the Center will be appointed with the agreement of the President of the Center in order to ensure full cooperation between the two position-holders.
