On the 21st of March Prof Leonid Eidelman, Past President of the Israeli Medical Association, travelled to Tokyo to meet with the Japan Medical Association (JMA).
On his first day in Tokyo, Prof Eidelman met with Dr. Matsumoto, President of the Japan Medical Association, and then joined the board meeting of the JMA where he presented a report on the work of the Ukraine Medical Help Fund. Prof Eidelman explained how the Israeli Medical Association has been responsible for procuring much-needed medical supplies and delivering them to Ukraine. He spoke about his visit to the city of Lviv in Ukraine where he met with Andriy Bazylevych from the Ukraine Medical Association and visited field hospitals that were set up to treat the wounded.
At the time of the meeting, the Japan Medical Association had already donated 2,224,097 Euros to the fund. Dr. Matsumoto then presented Prof. Eidelman with a cheque for an additional 213,000,000 Yen, approximately 1,447,502 Euros. Prof Eidelman expressed his sincere gratitude noting that this continued support by the Japan Medical Association will allow the fund to carry on its work in sending medical supplies to our colleagues in Ukraine.
