We maintain that Section 20 of the government draft law (MK Golan’s draft law does not include section 20) may encourage organ trading and turn the National Transplant Center into a center for such trading. We believe that donors should be given compensation for losses related to a transplant, in other words: work days, suffering, etc., however it is impossible and we should not quantify the value of an “organ” in monetary terms and compensate for various financial losses.
We also maintain that the National Insurance Institute is the appropriate entity that should be responsible for compensating donors. The Institute has an organized financial system and therefore there is no reason to turn the National Transplant Center into an entity that transfers funds.
