This special issue of "Military Medicine" reviews the 12th Research Conference of the Medical Corps. The conference has long been an important and festive event on the corps’ calendar, signifying a phenomenon of diverse populations in the Medical Corps aspiring to take part in research activities in military medicine.
A phenomenon which grows out of a broad organizational understanding that advancing military medicine through research is one of the cornerstones of professionalism in the medical corps.
Addressing a core issue of military medicine through research is not optional for officers in the corps, but rather a basic professional duty.
